about

In 99 Julys, composer Joshua Dumas creates an algorithmic and improvised composition that translates Chicago weather, water, and population data from the last 99 Julys into an ambient underscore with brief melodies representing 2017-1918. 99 Julys was first performed by Whitney Johnson, Keefe Jackson and Dumas as part of the Inferno Movements series in July 2017. The piece is designed for any size ensemble, this recording is Dumas solo.

Commissioned by Chicago Parks District Inferno Movements series.

[Part of the Climate Data Suite series]
